Day 28 – Wednesday 25th May – Part Two

Just had a heart breaking call from kp.

She is in a lot of discomfort and is totally fed up and “wants it all to end”.

She can’t get to sleep, she can’t get comfy and she wants me to sort it all out. I spoke to the nurse and one of the doctors to see if anything else can be done to ease her discomfort.

But she has had the maximum pain relief, the maximum sleeping tablet dosage, they have moved her on every side they can move her and she is still uncomfortable and fed up.

I feel so sorry for her.

One of the doctors assured me that within 90mins the latest tablets should kick in and she should be ok. I reassured her that this was the case, and I think she believed me.

The only other option is sedation, and the more severe pain relief, but this would only slow down her recovery. Battling on is the only real solution.

They are wonderful at ICU and I have no doubt they are doing all they can. I left the phonecall feeling that kp was reassured that it would be ok within an hour or so.

Battle on love. You’re doing so well.

    Karen & David,
I have been following this web site since I came back from our holiday. And have really appreciated all your texts on Karens condition. I have seen the comments from the guy in London who went to see the show. Like him and since the accident, you have been in my thoughts. I know that I do not know anything about you or your family but feel that I have so much to say to you both as a result of that day on the motorway. All I could think about when I was inside the car holding your head was I can let this girl go. I must do everything I can for her and her friends. It seemed to take an age for the emergency services to arrive but in reality it was only minutes. Things keep coming back to me about the scene and what you said to me. Don’t worry I’ll not put them on here, I’ll tell you in person when I eventually meet you. (though you were concerned about if you were flashing any bits!!(you weren’t))
I did not know what you looked like until David text me with this site and I got to finally see your pic. You were facing away from me in the car and when I came to the hospital a few days later your bed was rotated the other way!!!
Anyway, keep getting better and hopefully we will meet soon.
    John

    Hi David and Karen

Very entertaining KP – its so goodto be able to see you on the web site when we are so far away. Thanks to David and Nigel for being so ‘clever’ (that goes to Nige obviously) for putting video clips on the website – brilliant.
Karen sings better than Guy on a good day – he really is bad and doesn’t have any rhythm at all.
Anyway its lovely to see you KP even though you can’t see me, and its even better to hear you.
    Can’t wait till Sunday.
    See you then.
    Lots of Love
    Jane

Just been watching the vid at work. Sorry PDC if output is down. And Jane said KP sings better than Guy. Dont worry about the move just think that there will be some new nurses to have wrapped around your finger and give the ICU nurses a well deserved break. Embarresing the poor lad by telling him you couldnt get your leg over Poor thing
Love to all Keep up the good work both of you
    Love Bill Justine and rosie

Hi Karen…You are doing so well, actually that’s an under-statement in the highest degree as everybody knows – You are one in a million and I am in complete admiration of you. Your strength of character and ability to make everyone’s day with your quick wit and sense of humour is truly outstanding! amazing! fantastic…As David said in a previous blog, and I quote:-
“I am running out of superlatives to describe KP’s Progress”.
Keep up the good work KP, you are doing a brilliant at this “Get Well” stuff. You have come some far in such a little time, that with your track record, before you know it, you will be back home with your beloved David. (Has he got a brother? I’m joining the queue -LOL).

I know it was a sad day yesterday, we all have our special memories of Lee. Marie was in my thoughts constantly. But Karen, I’m sure you gave Marie something to smile about with your disco dancing and karaoke.(loved the video) and the thongs…say no more – David’s comments were bloody hilarious….
Laughing and crying when I read Wednesdays blog. So many positives, it was so uplifting to read. Many thanks and upmost respect to your David, he’s doing a brilliant job with the site (Did you know he had hidden talents of the literary kind? Or – Has he always been a budding author waiting to escape??) He definitely has a way with words – You will be impressed I’m sure. All credit to you though Karen, you are his inspiration. You can see the joy on his face in that lovely photo of you both on Monday’s blog.

Keep Smiling Karen, and looking forward to seeing you next month. Love Cousin Gillian and family in Shetland xxx

    Hi Karen,
just got back from Manchester, Jane will explain what happend this p.m – how hacked off was I? Can’t repeat it on the blog – sorry Karen, Jane will explain tomorrow i.e. Friday.
We really need a “consultation” or a “clinic session” We had to have one last night without you. You’ll know why when Jane explains the text she sent to me last night, which reads “Ronnie winter wedding would be just the ticket to cheer kp up, we could wear purple velvet frocks, trimmed with cream fur fabric and keep our hands warm in a nice rabbit muff”
So next pictures on the bog site are you two in your outfits – think Janes getting a bit carried away though and I know you will agree when she explains tomorrow. She also gave other advice but I can’t share on the blog, but Jane will.
Great news about the new caravan -bloody underfloor heating what a treat, hear we are still on for the anual Dales caravan trip, remember the pointing, can just imagine you in hospital – you pointing like no one else points and saying “and another thing”.
If you were here down South you’d be saying “It’s too hot!” “Don’t know how you stand it down here” and you know what, I agree at the minute, not looking forward to the tubes tomorrow, Manchester was just temperature right. I’ll sign off now and hope your telly is sorted and that you like your new TEMPORARY abode. I’m back blogging, no internet access in my hotel this week so couldn’t. May go to Babs for the weekend but back up to Manchester next week, have made sure I’m in hotel with internet access this time.
Take care. Hope to see you soon.
    Cheers
    Ronnie (vdfromboro)
